Karibu (welcome) to TAMU Grill and Catering, where we take pride in bringing the food flavors of Kenya to Minnesota. We are essentially a catering operation with a storefront and open three days a week (Fri-Sun 3pm to 8pm) to the public. We are a family-run operation in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of South Minneapolis. We occupy the former Viking Bar, a turn-of-the-century iconic brick building famous for hosting live bands. The century-old concrete tiles and tin ceiling, some of which we saved, carry plenty of history and memories for many Minnesotans. We carry the ever-transforming history of the West Bank forward by becoming the first immigrants to occupy the former Viking Bar. We invite you to visit and savor our food while experiencing a piece of Minnesota's history.

While our food is fundamentally Kenyan, we have also incorporated other influences to make our food offerings truly cross-cultural. Whether you order for catering, dining in, or carrying out, you'll taste Chef Jojo's signature in-house spice blends in your food; always enhancing, never overpowering.

At Tamu Grill and Catering, we believe in the village, and being part of the community. Our love of music has led us to partner with the Cedar Cultural Center and KFAI Fresh Air Community Radio to bring the Minneapolis Afrobeats Dance Party to the West Bank. The event happens about every quarter and we feature local musicians and deejays.
